The 2024 Application window has closed. The 2025 Application deadline will be announced early next year.

 

  • High school seniors residing in the greater Pittsburgh area* are eligible to apply if they plan to major in theater or performing arts, e.g., dance, drama, music, voice, costume or set design, etc. and have been accepted into an accredited college, university, or conservatory that offers a four-year program.
    (*Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties.)

 

  • Scholarships are awarded in amounts up to $4,000. The amount and number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the scholarship committee. Scholarships are to be used for tuition only. Checks will be made payable to the school.

 

  • Students who have been granted a partial scholarship(s) are eligible for a Patti & Walter Blenko Scholarship, but those who have received a full scholarship are not.

 

  • The scholarship committee will evaluate each application on criteria including the student’s financial need, scholastic merit, and community involvement to determine semi-finalists.

 

  • Each semi-finalist will be invited to audition for the scholarship committee. Auditions are judged on talent, professional presence, and interpersonal skills. The audition location is in the Pittsburgh area and will be disclosed to semi-finalists.

 

  • The Patti & Walter Blenko Scholarship Fund intends to offer scholarships annually but the board of directors reserves the right to modify or discontinue the program at any time.
     

  • All applicants are eligible without regard to race, color, gender, or national origin. 

 

  • The following documents must be uploaded with applications:
     

      1. High School Transcript
 

      2. Resumé: Include experience you have in areas relating to your interests, e.g., classes              taken, special trainings, performances and competitions; awards and recognition.

      3. Financial Need Statement
: Provide an overview of your financial needs 

      4. Letter of Recommendation: Include a recent letter from a non-family member who                is familiar with your abilities 


      5. Headshot: JPG or PNG files accepted
